It’s time to go through the Xbox Games with Gold titles for the month of May 2019. Like always, we have 4 titles available, two Xbox One titles and two Xbox 360 titles. A couple of these games are available to pick up and play right now whilst the other two will launch on May 16th. Like always all of these games are playable on your Xbox One. This month is a mixed bag with many feeling a little underwhelmed by its offerings but you can give us your thoughts on May’s Xbox Games with Gold once we’ve gone through them.
May 1st Xbox One – Marooners
Our first game this month, which launched May 1st, and is available right now is the party game adventure known as Marooners. You can join up to six of your friends either online or on the couch with local co-op play. You can try and win the game for yourself or hinder your friends progress throughout the games intense action as it randomly switches between 25 different games and arenas. You can even come back from the grave and haunt your friends causing them all sorts of problems even after death. Marooners is a party game so you know what you’re in for. May 1st Xbox 360 – Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon
The Xbox 360’s offering for May 1st is the sci-fi action title earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon. What a mouthful that is. The world has been invaded by thousands of giant insects and aliens and it is up to you to protect Earth. Insect Armageddon is non-stop action and you must utilize over 300 weapons as well as space-age tactical gear and vehicles to wipe out these invaders. This one doesn’t look as pretty as some of the other offerings this month, which is to be expected from a 360 title but if the idea of constantly killing giant bugs sounds appealing to you, Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon might just be for you.
May 16th Xbox One – The Golf Club 2019 featuring PGA tour
Our second Xbox One title, launching May 16th is certainly an acquired taste; The Golf Club 2019. The game includes a career mode in which you can compete for the cup as well as an online mode to play against your friends. It has a major focus on realism with incredibly accurate courses and…yeah I’m running out of things to say. If golf is your thing then hey, I hope you have a blast with The Gold Club but honestly I don’t think many were happy about this inclusion to the May lineup. May 16th Xbox 360 – Comic Jumper
Our final game of the month and our last 360 title launching May 16th is Comic Jumper. You play as Captain Simley, a comic book character who is on a quest to save his own comic title which isn’t doing so well. In order to do that he must solve problems inside other comic books. Comic Jumper looks like it could be quite a bit of fun if you don’t take it too seriously. The gameplay looks pretty simple, standard platformer mixed with a beat em’ up and the cartoonish graphics change depending on which genre of comic book you’re in which I thought was a nice touch. Comic fans might get a kick out of this and if you’re bored and just looking for something to pass the time with maybe Comic Jumper is worth checking out.
